About Patti Hoff
After spending a decade living in sub-Saharan Africa working with youth affected by HIV/AIDS and managing large scale, inter-continental humanitarian projects for cities, communities and villages from Zambia to Madagascar, I knew it was time to come back home to the United States when I found out I was pregnant with triplets, yes, triplets.
After giving birth, to my beautiful daughters, I shed over 100 pounds the natural way. No shakes, smoothies, liposuction or drugs. I just ate right and kept on moving. Now as a health and fitness expert, I enjoy helping other moms and their families live healthier, full lives. Born out of that devotion was a childhood obesity curriculum that is currently taught in over twenty-five schools and community centers across the metro Boston area. As vendors with the Boston Public School system and now the NYC Department of Education, the experience of working with two of the best and largest school systems in the country, their agencies, inter-divisional partners, outside organizations and staff has given me even more resolve to continue on the path of fighting the obesity epidemic. One of my programs (for those affected by high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity) was turned into a national five-credit certification program, accredited by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and is currently taught in their continuing education department.
Recently, three of my school health programs were funded by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation – an affiliate of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign. It is an honor to create and manage one’s own program and to have it funded and valued in the eyes of national organizations, communities and institutions. As an author specializing in health and wellness and as a host and producer of a local television show on childhood obesity prevention, I’ve been humbled by the impact that my work has had on families who are trying to choose healthier lifestyles. Changing peoples' lives spiritually, emotionally and physically is something I am passionate about. You've got one life, make it count! Live each day as if it were your last, and live it to the full!
